Post & Beam Architecture is NOT Synonymous with Log Home Living
Many people see the terms “post and beam” or “timber frame” as synonymous with log home living. Nothing could be further from the truth. Log homes tend to be more rustic with a sometimes overwhelming amount of wood exposed on the interior. Post and beam homes expose the timber structure in the interior while still allowing for the warmth of painted or plastered walls. The pictures that follow will clear up that misunderstanding in a hurry. There are as many different architectural styles built in the post and beam tradition as there are in the regular, or stick-built, form.

The owner of this gorgeous RI post and beam mimicked parts of her historic Boston area home while simultaneously incorporating the beauty of the exposed timber frame. She calls it "Having my cake and eating it, too." I couldn't agree more!

This one wins the award for "Best Alternative Use of the Post & Beam". It's an abbey (read: church) in Southern CA! How Divine!!!

Okay, this one IS on the coast, but your own personal "Lighthouse?" Enlightening, to say the least!

The timber frame goes SUSTAINABLE or Solar is SO Hot!!!

My St. Patrick's Day timber frame hails from - where else? Ireland, of course.

I like the blog. Interesting, has personality. I’ll be watching for more articles.
