The Post & Beam Kitchen

June 11, 2009

The kitchen layout is one of the first considerations when designing a home. Many of your preferences will need to be considered and decided before drawings of your new or remodeled home may begin. Will you have an eat-in kitchen? Do you prefer an open family area as part of the floor plan or do you want your work space to be separate room? What type of cooking will you do? Will you be a solo cook or is it a family affair? Timber Frame Kitchen

Now is also the time to choose all appliances so electrical and technological needs may be included in the plans. Storage space is a must. Even in compact kitchens appropriate amounts of cupboard and storage space needs to be included or there will be one unhappy cook in the kitchen; guaranteed! Post & Beam Kitchen

When designing a post and beam kitchen, there’s one more consideration: the look of the beams. How will they be used in the appearance of your kitchen? Will their role be prominent or will they play a “supporting role” – pun intended – in the look of your new kitchen? Beams play a Primary Role

Here are a more examples of how several timber frame owners decided these questions for themselves. Barn Timber Frame Kitchen
