The Riches of Southeast Asia Influence a Timber Frame Home
While her husband was stationed in Southeast Asia as an Army Officer, this interior designer took the opportunity to soak up the culture which so interested her and ultimately influenced her design style. The vibrant jewel-like colors, the rich tones of the woods, and the vivid iridescent silks all played a prominent role when the couple moved state-side and built their post & beam dream home.
Granted, this home owner had a leg up on many of us as she was trained in the art of interior design and decor. However, the skill with which she blended the dynamic Asian colors, textures and tones with the strong lines and attention grabbing angles of a post & beam is quite extraordinary. The result is a beautiful marriage of ‘East Meets West’.

The jewel tones, the deep rich color of the timbers, floor and rattan furniture, and the beautiful oriental rugs all combine perfectly in the great room.

The bright colors of the curtain provide contrast to the dark stain of the window trim. The books add a multicolored depth to the room.

A view from the master bedroom's private deck looking into the house. Notice the use of the oriental carpets here, as well as throughout the home.

I absolutely love this style of house. Especially the kitchens, they’re so cozy in their own aspect.
I,too, have always loved this house. The homeowner, who is an interior designer, has a great eye and sense of style.
