Holiday Décor: Barns Inside and Out

December 9, 2009

A simple, yet beautiful expression of holiday spirit.

This time of year, especially living in the Northeast, there is nothing more enjoyable than checking out the decorations people use to festoon their barns. And not just the exteriors. Although that’s what we the viewing public can see, many decide to carry over the cheer to the interior of the barn as well. Christmas, Hanukkah and Kwanzaa are not just for human beings, after all. A little holiday cheer is appropriate anywhere, so get out there and decorate your barn, even if it’s just the door!
Happy Holidays from Post and Beam Living!

The sliding barn doors do double duty as wreath hangers.

Silent Night.

Peace On Earth.

What a great concept!

Who says the decoration needs to be on the door or the walls?

Comfort and joy inside the horse barn.

The wreaths make this barn simply elegant.

Here's a great idea: Have your holiday party in the barn; no need to worry about dirt being tracked in!!!

Lest you thought I wouldn't put in the "over the top" holiday barn.

Okay, this isn't really the barns I've been talking about, but it was too beautiful to ignore!

I can’t end this post without sharing a few photos I took of my own beautiful post and beam carriage barn. These shots were taken today during the wild winter storm that has blanketed the nation this week.

Post and Beam Living wishes you and yours a wonderful holiday season!

Thank you very much. My husband and I originally intended to live in our carriage barn until our house was built and have discovered we love it so much, we’re now building a guest house for everyone else. We’re staying put in the carriage house!

Please check out the Yankee Barn Homes website (www.yankeebarnhomes.com). I know they have built small saltbox frame homes in the past. If interested, you could request to see the floorplans and pictures of the “Lanz” house. It’s a great small saltbox.
      Good luck!
